How long does an income certificate take at the village office?

I applied through the Akshaya centre eight days ago and the status still shows "under verification". Is this normal, or should I go to the village office in person?

Under the Right to Service Act the timeline for an income certificate is six working days from a complete application. Eight days including a weekend is borderline. Take the acknowledgement receipt to the village office and ask the Village Officer directly — that usually resolves it the same day.

Mine took nine days last month. The delay was because the ward member had not signed the local enquiry report. Worth checking that.
