Frequently asked questions

Everything citizens most often ask about WeOne.

Getting started

Any resident of Kerala aged 13 or above can create a free citizen account using a mobile number. Government officers receive a verified account only after their department confirms their posting.

A mobile number that can receive an SMS. An email address is optional but recommended for account recovery.

Yes. WeOne is a public service of the Local Self Government Department, Government of Kerala. There is no fee, no advertising and no sale of citizen data.

WeOne is hyper-local by design. Your district, local body and ward decide which announcements, events, polls and community groups are relevant to you, and where a grievance you raise is routed.

Accounts and verification

Verified government accounts carry a green tick and name the office they belong to. Verification is granted only by the LSGD administration — an account holder cannot request it for themselves.

A green tick marks a government office or officer. A blue tick marks a verified public figure or organisation that is not part of government.

Register as a citizen first, then ask your department administrator to raise an official record for you. It becomes active once approved in the administration portal.

One person may hold one citizen account. Departments and offices hold separate page accounts, operated by authorised officers.

Privacy and security

On government-controlled infrastructure inside India. It is never sold, rented or shared with advertisers.

You control visibility field by field in Settings. Your name and username are always public; contact details are private by default.

Mobile one-time passwords, optional two-factor authentication, a register of the devices you sign in from, and automatic lockout after repeated failed attempts.

Settings → Account → Deactivate. Your profile is hidden from other citizens immediately. Records that public rules require us to keep are retained for the statutory period.

Using the platform

It is routed to the department and officer responsible for your ward, with a service level target attached. You are notified at every status change until it is closed.

Registration, verification, onboarding, profiles, geography, the department directory and the administration portal are live. Feed, messaging, groups, grievances and other modules are released phase by phase and are clearly labelled until they ship.

English is available today. Malayalam is being added module by module; the geography and department data already carry Malayalam names.

The platform is built API-first and Android and iOS applications are in development. Until then the website works fully on mobile, including a dedicated bottom navigation and dark mode.
